Job Overview

As a Kitchen Assistant you’ll prepare, cook and serve good nutritional and satisfying meals for residents, including preferences, special diets and foods as needed. You need to do this in a timely manner.

About The Role

Responsibilities and Duties of the Job

  • Support the chef to deliver a varied and nutritional menu in line with dietary needs
  • Adhering to completing all mandatory paperwork including: adhering to COSHH and company guidelines, policies and procedures
  • Support the chef with ordering from preferred suppliers
  • Regularly monitor stock control and to inform the Chef / Manager of any discrepancies.
  • To ensure proper stock rotation of foodstuffs to minimise wastage, and to dispose of promptly any foodstuff found to be past "sell-by" dates for any reason.
  • To help prepare beverages and food
  • To maintain a high standard of hygiene and cleanliness in the kitchen and food storage areas at all times, in accordance with the appropriate Food Hygiene Regulations
  • Ensuring deep cleaning of the kitchen is adhered to on a regular basis
  • To assist in the monitoring and recording of refrigerator, chiller and freezer temperatures
  • Actively participating in discussions, with the kitchen team, to improve the service
  • Ensure all the dishes are washed, dried and put away promptly
