HMP Dovegate is a Category B male establishment prison based on the Staffordshire/Derbyshire border near Uttoxeter. The operational capacity is for 1100 prisoners who are serving a range of sentences including; trial, remand, those awaiting sentence and convicted men serving up to life in prison.

Here at Serco we’re looking for 2 experienced Psychotherapists or Senior Clinicians ideally with Group Analyst exposure to join our established Camelot / Genesis Clinical Teams. You will lead a clinical service delivery team in the form of group work-based practices and be responsible for the clinical support and development of your staff team. You will also be responsible for the accreditation, quality assurance and clinical performance of your Community, aligning with the necessary regulatory frameworks and ensuring that this is a minimum baseline for performance.

You will need to demonstrate a high level of communication as well as the capacity to work to deliver groups. This will require a level of flexibility within your role and you will be expected to work as a fully integrated member of the team which includes NHS and HMP staff working in partnership to deliver the model. Overarching aims and objectives include reducing risk of reoffending; improving the health and wellbeing of the residents and developing the workforce.

Ultimately, through your natural desire, passion and leadership qualities, you will ensure that the accredited therapy model is delivered, embedded and maintained on a 24/7 basis across the whole of the Community. Although the role is predominately clinical in line management accountabilities it also includes the support of operational (custodial) delivery.

This Is An Exciting Opportunity To Join The Dedicated Team, You Will Not Work Alone But You Will Hold Overall Accountabilities And Areas Of Responsibility, Which Will Include

• Ensuring the systematic and coordinated provision of high quality specialist psychotherapy / psychology assessment and treatment to residents with complex mental health problems, including people with severe, enduring multiple disorders, challenging behaviour and Learning Difficulties.
• Exercising responsibility for the systematic governance of psychological therapy practice.
• Ensuring that your community fully meets all requirements external to an environment, but that is expected of all residential accommodation (HMIP, Security, IEP, ACCT, Violence Reduction and so forth).
• Working closely with all Senior Managers to ensure that the prison is seen as the model of best practice across the whole custodial estate and that all forms of awareness training delivery accurately reflects this.
  

What You’ll Need To Do The Role

First and foremost, you will hold and maintain UKCP, BPC, registration as a clinician and as a supervisor.

You must have excellent communication skills, both written and oral, and be capable of producing written work to the highest standards alongside competency in addressing large groups/audiences, for example in full staff briefings, providing clear and precise information to all.

Your passion for collaboratively working with offenders and experience of working with those with personality disorders will add value to the team and our offenders’ journeys.
