The post holder will be part of The Directorate of Education Research and Innovation (DERI). They will work closely with the Simulation and Clinical Assessment Lead to support the Clinical Education Team and the wider ELHT Simulation Faculty in their training capability and capacity to deliver SBE and our ambitious simulation strategy that supports the National and Local agenda and the Trust corporate objectives. In doing so they will play a key part in helping to train, support and retain staff to ensure we have a safe and effective workforce now and in the future, and to make a real difference to the quality of care in terms of patient safety and experience. You will support learners and the delivery of simulation across multi-professional and multi-specialty groups within the organisation not only in the classroom setting but across wards and departments to ensure they are safe, competent practitioners compliant with current legislation, national and local guidelines and that the Trust fulfils its legal obligations., The core aspect of the role will be to provide SBE programmes to all staff groups, working closely with content experts, course/ program leaders and clinical simulation faculty. During your time, you will be required to:
  • Be an active member of the ELHT Simulation Faculty
  • Develop experience in, creating new scenarios
  • Become an ambassador for patient safety embedding this throughout SBE programmes
  • Gain competence in the use and operation of simulation equipment
  • Assist to develop and deliver the Trust wide simulation strategy and associated KPIs
  • Contribute to departmental teachings in collaboration with divisional faculty
  • Gain an understanding of emotional intelligence and human factors
  • Actively contribute to the IMT teaching
  • Actively contribute to Foundation Year simulation
  • Contribute when required to the undergraduate curriculum
  • Network with clinical staff to share best practice.
  • Work collaboratively with all Educators across the organisation
  • Assist with the update of lesson plans and teaching resources
  • Develop evaluation methods to assess the impact of education on patient care * through debrief provide constructive feedback to learners
  • Participate in course evaluation, feedback, and audit
  • Attend relevant meetings, as directed
  • Facilitate, support, and participate in internal and external events
  • Communicate effectively and professionally
  • Explore new technologies in relation to simulation Working for our organisation This post will provide the successful candidate with an opportunity to develop an exciting portfolio in simulation-based education (SBE) with to take part in some exciting projects in collaboration with the ELHT Technology Enhanced Learning Team. Aswell as attending Trust and local orientation programmes you will participate in the agreed personal development and appraisal plan. in addition:
  • You will be encouraged to participate in educational activities to enhance your own personal development a simulation educator.
  • You will receive development and feedback via the clinical simulation supervision team. This will facilitate development across multiple specialities and professions.
  • You will have the opportunity to complete the NWSEN Faculty development Programme, OSCE Examiner training, company specific manikin training.
  • Support will be offered to complete a postgraduate certificate in simulation-based education.
  • Supported to undertake a QI project in relation to SBE.
  • Support for application for ASPiH individual accreditation
  • Peer review of teaching delivered This is an exciting new role that poses a 12 month opportunity commencing in August 2022 for a dynamic and enthusiastic person with a keen interest in clinical training involving simulation. The post has been designed primarily for those that have successfully finished Foundation Year 2 (as a minimum) or completion of CREST certificate / equivalent.,
  • MBBS or equivalent
  • Full Registration with GMC and Licence to Practise
  • Successful completion of Foundation Training (as a minimum) or completion of CREST certificate / equivalent. Desirable:
  • Evidence of publications in medical education journals
  • Evidence of publications in peer reviewed medical journals
  • MRCS Part A,
  • Knowledge of medical training and evidence of competence in relevant procedures
  • Completion of UK based medical degree or a minimum of 12 months previous NHS experience working within an acute clinical environment
  • Good communication skills with ability to motivate colleagues - medical and non-medical at all levels
  • Ability to work in a team
  • Ability to work autonomously
  • Demonstrates professionalism in attitude and application
  • Ability to organise own workload, prioritising and planning own diary of activities
  • Ability to work as a member of a multidisciplinary team
  • Some experience delivering simulation activities and clinical skills teaching
  • An awareness of the national agenda in relation to simulation-based education
  • Computer literate with the ability to utilise MS packages and the hospital systems
  • Experience of working with staff from different professional backgrounds and grades
  • Clinical experience within acute settings
  • Experinece and knowledge of planning an educational project
  • Experience of assessing and providing feedback to learners Desirable:
  • Involvement in management and administration
  • Extensive experience of delivering clinical education
  • Prior experience of technology enhanced learning software
