The Clinical Capacity Manager will provide essential clinical management support to the efficient running of the Site Operations Team. The post holder will act as an integral part of the Site Operations team, proactively supporting the Clinical Site Manager and giving direction and clinical nursing support to the Patient Flow Coordinators.They will be responsible for supporting patient access pathways, planning the efficient discharge of patients from the organisation and effective early flow in order for the Trust to achieve national elective, emergency and cancer key performance targets.Key responsibilities include actively engaging with the wards and departments and liaising with members of the senior management and multi-disciplinary teams to ensure efficient discharge planning, safe and appropriate allocation of beds and maintenance of patient flow.

  • Accountable for own actions in accordance with NMC Code of Professional Conduct. Will contribute to corporate objectives, acting within local, Trust and statutory guidelines and policies at all times
  • Highly developed communication skills working with a range of professional teams, enabling facilitation of appropriate discharges and admissions to meet the needs of the patients through the provision of a high quality service
  • Act as a knowledgeable senior nurse and leader, a resource for junior staff, advising and directing on capacity management within the site team.
  • Show dignity and respect when dealing with patients, staff and visitors
  • Responsible for identifying and prioritising clinical and non-clinical issues impacting upon patient flow, escalating to the Clinical Site Manager and/or appropriate Matron / Group Manager or Consultant if unable to resolve at local level
  • Responsible to the Clinical Site Manager for all activities regarding patient discharges, admissions and flow
  • Support ED and wards across the Trust to ensure patient investigations and treatments are completed in a timely manner to reduce avoidable delays in discharge
  • Proactively manage day to day bed allocation and patient flow across medical, surgical, and specialised clinical areas, prioritising and re-prioritising tasks, based on clinical need and service demand
