Children Looked After Nurse For Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children And Young People (UASCYP)

We are looking to recruit a committed, innovative, experienced nurse with demonstrable leadership skills to share our passion for supporting the health needs of highly vulnerable yet resilient children and young people.

Your focus will be on assessing and meeting the health needs of unaccompanied children and young people who are Looked After and seeking asylum in line with statutory timeframes. You will work autonomously within our existing team of nurses and doctors and will often be the first health professional to meet the child or young person and initiate the statutory health assessment process. This will require excellent planning and prioritisation skills.

The best interests of the child or young person will be at the centre of your work and decision making. Collaboration is pivotal to this role, and you will work closely with our children and young people, their carers and support workers and our health services within CWPT and NHS Coventry and Warwickshire Integrated Care Board. Working together with our colleagues in primary and secondary care, social care and the voluntary sector will also be an essential part of the collaborative approach in assessing and supporting the health needs of this vulnerable population.

Act as the lead health professional for our UASCYP and those supporting them.

Directly support UASCYP and those leaving care to reach their full potential by accessing the best possible health outcomes.

Ensure UASCYP receive timely, child & young person focussed assessments and interventions in line with Statutory Guidance, as part of a caseload covering 0-18.

Support the team to provide a needs-led, outcomes focussed, accessible health offer to UASCYP.

To provide training and support; including the provision of specialist advice to Coventry community professionals in relation to improving the health and well-being outcomes of UASCYP

Undertake and lead on audits for the service.
