Holme J and I School are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, conscientious, proactive and competent caretaker to play a key role in the maintenance and cleanliness of our school.

Holme Junior and Infant School is a small, welcoming and friendly village school at the heart of its community, with our current roll of 35 children being at the centre of all that we do.

As part of the daily duties, the successful candidate would also be required to transport our children in the school’s minibus to the off-site out of school care provision at Holmbridge and complete the necessary driving assessment to fulfil this duty. The minibus driving duties would be completed during the contractual working hours of this position.

The Basic Working Hours Are

Monday & Friday – 7.00am-8:45am and 3:15pm-5.00pm. The pm hours will include driving the mini bus to transport children to Holmbridge out of school club. The after school minibus driving duties would be completed during the contractual working hours of this position.

Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday - 7.00am-8:45am and 3:15pm-5:30pm . The before and after school minibus driving duties would be completed during the contractual working hours of this position.

On occasions these timings could change, therefore the caretaker could be asked to work flexibly according to the needs of the school. Equally, school are happy for the hours on these days to be flexible to suit the caretaker, as long as the mini bus duties can be fulfilled.

This is a fixed term position for 19 hours per week until January 2023. The position will then be reviewed in line with the needs of school.

The Role Includes The Following Duties
  • To carry out minor repairs and general maintenance of the school building and grounds.
  • To undertake daily cleaning duties.
  • To be a school key holder.
  • To carry out security checks and secure the school building.
  • To drive the school minibus on a daily basis.
  • To conduct weekly fire alarm and intruder alarm testing
Candidates will be expected to:
  • Attend any relevant training courses to fulfil their duties.
  • Have experience of DIY.
  • Undertake the Kirklees driving assessment required to drive the school minibus and transport school children.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, the interview process will be carried out virtually; therefore, the job role will be made permanent following a suitable probationary period in which successful completion of the Kirklees Driving Assessment would be required
