It’s an important role, which is why we’re on the lookout for a confident Buying Manager with a focus on Value Chain Optimisation to join the team, helping to drive a results-based culture.

You’ll engage with key internal and external stakeholders to optimise commercial delivery alongside managing and developing a team of high performing individuals within a project role. Crucially, you’ll engage and influence individuals at all levels of the business, so it’s important you’re confident in presenting data and project proposals efficiently to maximise understanding and enhance decision making.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct category and spend analysis.
• Identify pilot opportunities leveraging the value levers framework and supply chain value framework.
• Create tools and templates to deliver insights.
• Understand strategic sourcing levers and indicators of potential opportunities.
• Understand commercial trade-offs across service, capacity, cost and risk.
• Prioritise potential benefits against ease/risk/time.

Essential Skills Required:

• Self-starter with the ability to prioritise duties among multiple concurrent projects.
• Ability to plan ahead to meet deadlines with a high level of personal organisation.
• Demonstrated expected levels of aptitude, motivation and performance within your existing role to date.
• Must be able to display an analytical mind-set and a high degree of numerical aptitude.
• Self-motivated – must be productive with minimal direction.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced and cross-functional environment.
• Excellent visual design sense regarding clear and accurate presentation of data.
• Strong problem-solving capabilities.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proven ability to drive supply chain initiatives.
• Demonstrated experience in managing strategic stakeholder relationships.
• Project management experience with the ability to lead optimisation projects.
• Strong negotiation and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
• Ability to navigate ambiguity in scope and timescales.
• Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
• Advanced IT literacy.
• Experience organising, manipulating and analysing complex data sets.
• Demonstrated high levels of commercial acumen and understanding of project management principles.
• Experience in strategic sourcing and value chain mapping, ideally in FMCG.
• Significant management experience.
• Previous experience in supplier management and negotiation.
• Experience in strategic category management.
• Vast experience within a retail buying role leading a team within mid-tier management.
• Exposed to value chain analysis projects.
• Ability to demonstrate high calibre leadership skills.
• Retail experience, preferably FMCG.
• Management experience.

Desirable Skills Required:

• Tertiary qualifications within a relevant field.
• Consultancy and/or project manager experience.
• Value chain optimisation and/or analysis experience.

Benefits:

• Salary starting from £54,285, rising to £79,040.
• 5-day/50-hour week, working Monday- Friday.
