As one of the UK’s fastest growing supermarkets, it’s important we’re giving our customers high-quality products at the best value for money. To help keep us on top of our game, we on the lookout for a passionate Buying Analyst to join the National Buying Team at our Head Office in Atherstone.

As a Buying Analyst, you will monitor, manipulate and evaluate large amounts of data to develop the bakery category and other ambient areas, seeking out all opportunities to optimise costs and maximise sales. This includes key event opportunities within baked goods across the Easter (hot cross buns) and Christmas (cake) categories.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Converting complex data into charts and graphs to inform future business decisions.
  • Fulfil requests by the Buying Team for data deep dives and support where necessary with building detailed reports.
  • Manage the efficient and accurate flow of communication both internally and externally - understanding complex data and analysing in detail before preparing business-friendly reports and presentations.
  • Focus on solutions, quickly identifying risk/opportunities in the data and recommending solutions and actions to implement.
  • Actively manage area of responsibility driving innovation and automation to advance the level of control within the business.
  • Ensures that a polite and professional manner is maintained in all internal/external communications.
  • Contribute positively and constructively to the Buying Team.
  • The role will develop further in time with the opportunity for further analysis designed to improve performance and profitability across the team(s).

Essential Skills Required:

  • Previous analytical work experience.
  • Experience of working in a highly commercial environment e.g. Retail, FMCG.
  • Buying experience.
  • Previous data analytical experience.
  • Display an analytical mind-set and a high degree of numerical aptitude.
  • Expertise of all aspects of Microsoft and relational databases.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel – running macros and deep dive.
  • Strong commercial acumen.
  • Self-motivated individual – must be productive with minimal direction.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and cross functional environment.
  • Excellent visual design sense regarding clear and accurate presentation of data.
  • Strong problem-solving capabilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good ability to build and maintain relationships.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Data interpretation skills.
  • Experience in data diving.
  • Intellectually curious and takes initiative.
  • Ability to plan ahead to meet deadlines with a high level of personal organisation.
  • Self-starter with the ability to prioritise duties among multiple concurrent projects.
  • Good sense of urgency and adaptability under pressure.

Desirable Skills Required:

  • Project management experience.
  • Interest or experience in ambient food groups.

  • Salary starting from £41,200, rising to £45,225.
