Role Title: Bid Manager

Location:UK Remote (with access to UK wide offices)

The Opportunity

To join a fast-paced bid management office, supporting Enterprise level pursuits across both the Enterprise Data Analytics and Enterprise Asset Management Product set. Day to day working will offer you the opportunity to engage with multiple stakeholders across the business whilst driving and owning bids in the region of £800k to £3m. Throughout your working week you will play an active role in the progression of bids through the bid journey working both internally and externally with delivery partners across the globe; providing an opportunity learn how Gen delivers bids globally.

Your Responsibilities
  • Working directly with business development, sales staff and other business domains including (Product and Technology, Deliver and Solutions, Legal and Commercial) in the creation of winning tender and bid responses
  • Coordination of the bid process, ensuring that key bid and project activities are delivered on time and that they meet or exceed Gens quality standards
  • Coordinate the activities of bid team members to ensure high quality, compliant submissions are delivered on time and to budget
  • Provide advice and guidance to bid team members on a daily basis to share best practices and ensure that the pursuit process is followed
  • Monitor bid cost to win and highlight variances in order to manage and control specific cost variables
  • Input to a range of business systems (e.g. Jira; SharePoint) in line with defined procedures to ensure that they are accurate and up to date
  • Monitor and review pursuit documents produced by others to ensure that they are accurate and meet Gens quality standards
  • Work with the Bid Support Analyst to support the development of a best practice library and standard materials to support continuous improvement and minimise the cost of pursuits.
  • Work with Bid Support Analyst to prepare non-technical components of pursuit documents, ensuring relevance, accuracy and high quality

What You Bring

You will bring experience of managing high value multiple strategic bids within the utilities and software space; combined with an experience of managing large enterprise bids with multiple internal stakeholders. The stakeholders will range from, commercial, legal, finance, product, solutions. You will also bring experience of collaborating with ecosystem partners to ensure bid strengths and competitive advantage is maximised through the bid process.

Must-haves
  • Significant, 5+ years, experience in coordinating enterprise level bids in the digital and analytical utilities, infrastructure, and Transportation space ideally
  • APMP / Shipley accredited
  • Capacity to work to multiple time zones when agreed and the ability to manage conflicting deadlines
  • Comfortable managing external customer relationships (via vendor calls, supporting sales demos, during negotiations etc)
  • Commercial acumen and organisational understanding
  • Good communication skills, including the ability to liaise with peers and senior colleagues and build and maintain relationships
  • Building the ability to negotiate and manage relationships with external stakeholders
  • Ability to identify and mitigate risks in the bid process
  • A creative thinker, as we are a continually evolving business these developments & changes will need embedding in bid responses as our product and customer landscape expands
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills
  • Advanced proficiency in using relevant software and systems
  • Thorough understanding of relevant business processes
  • Proficient MS Office skills and aptitude for learning InDesign

Nice-to-haves:
  • Experience of using RFP / Bid Software
  • A broad understanding of ISO 55000 and digital landscape as it pertains to physical asset management
  • Experience of working with different cultures across a global customer base
  • Chartered Certification and relevant professional qualification(s)
