Police Custody Nurse / Paramedic Role :

We will be your “virtual work personal assistant” 24/7 supporting you throughout your journey. We book and manage your rotas directly along with your annual leave. We arrange your training days, provide 24/7 support for all your needs. We will provide you with a Named Personal Assistant based in MedTeam, with full contact details for you 24/7.

We are recruiting Bank Custody Nurses/Paramedics to join the team, you will have highly skilled support staff and clinicians with you throughout, to provide care in Police custody suites in the Haverfordwestarea of Pembrokeshire. We are also seeking Nurses and Paramedics with the same background to cover bank shifts within the Ammanford area for Dyfed Powys Police.

As a Custody Nurse/Paramedic, you will be part of a close team working together to use your clinical expertise and skills to take full responsibility of the health, safety and welfare of detainees.

Working between stations in the Haverfordwest area, you will be part of a welcoming team of Nurses/Paramedics, you will be supported by a Clinical Lead and an active Doctor 24/7 based in the area, together with 24/7 support of a call centre and staff in sister stations in the region.

You will be responsible for diagnosis, identifying appropriate interventions, maintaining records, taking forensic samples, and providing advice and guidance. In addition, your advice, guidance and interventions will help detainees and support the criminal justice system.

Full training, orientation and induction provided including shadow shifts ensuring you are 100% confident and feel secure, prior to working autonomously. You will have a continuous professional development plan

** We are currently seeking Bank Nurses or Paramedics to work on a flexi/ad-hoc basis around Dyfed Powys - covering shifts at your own leisure around current jobs/social activities. Option to be paid PAYE or via an umbrella company. Full training is paid for, annual leave is accrued for every shift worked and enhancements authorised for last minute shifts picked up. Variety of shifts available, you can book shifts weekly or as far as 9 months in advance, you will still be treated as part of the team whether you’re contracted or a bank Healthcare Practitioner **

What you need for the role:

  • Qualifications

Police Vetting Requirements

  • You must have:
  • Right to work in the UK
  • Continuously resided in the UK for the previous 3 years, with no more than 3 months spent overseas at any one time.
  • Full UK driving license.
  • Active PIN & full membership of the HCPC (Paramedic), or NMC (RGN) with no restriction on practice.
  • Experience as a Registered Nurse or Paramedic with a minimum of 3 years’ post-qualifying service
  • Phlebotomy Experience
  • A Right to Work in the UK
  • Preferably you will have experience in a relevant speciality such as A&E, Walk in Centre, Paramedic Practitioner, Substance Misuse, Community Nursing, Police Custody, Prison or other relevant disciplines that you feel have the transferable skills
