We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 6 Physiotherapist to join the team within DPHC at MOD Lyneham.

The role of the Defence Medical Services is to promote, protect and restore the health of the Defence population in order to improve their fitness for role, while maintaining an occupational focus and an operational edge. The Defence Medical Services encompass the entire medical, dental, nursing, allied health professionals, paramedical and support personnel. The organisation is staffed by a mixture of military and civilian personnel and provides healthcare to 159,630 UK Regular Forces. Personnel from the single Services (Royal Navy, Army and Royal Air Force), work alongside civil servants and other supporting units providing healthcare to Service personnel.

Responsibilities

The post holder will be well organised, flexible and assertive with the ability to communicate at all levels. You will give full support to the Line Manager in ensuring the provision of a comprehensive and professional physiotherapy/rehabilitation service for entitled personnel. This will include undertaking highly skilled and specialist work in the musculo-skeletal/sports and training injury areas.

Main responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Performing highly skilled physiotherapeutic assessment of patients referred by Consultants, General Practitioners and other Healthcare Professionals or self-referred with diverse presentations and sophisticated and acute/chronic physical conditions and sports injuries.
  • Formulating, developing and delivering a specialised individualised treatment programme based upon evidence-based practice and appropriate clinical reasoning.
  • Communicating optimally with patients to ensure informed consent for treatment, good understanding of their conditions and to maximise their rehabilitation potential.
  • Handling and prioritising own clinical case-load efficiently and effectively and work without direct clinical supervision.
