As a software engineer in the Core Services team, you’ll be working on some of the most important services at DAZN.

We’re looking for a versatile engineer who can wear many hats to join our Core Services team. Our team keeps the lights on for the whole dazn.com infrastructure. Every customer uses our services, whether watching on the web, mobile or TV. You’ll be driven by the challenge of building and maintaining services used by millions of people at once.

Some days, you’ll be heads-down in code, helping our services to scale up to millions of concurrent users. Other days, you’ll be helping to plan the future of our services and communicating with our stakeholders across the business. Reliability is essential to our team, and we’re also fast-paced and pragmatic. You’ll join us on our regular chaos testing sessions and learn how our services perform during failures.

This is a great opportunity to develop within a supportive, collaborative team who are always learning from each other and adopt continuous improvement. We’re inclusive and encourage everyone to bring their ideas to the table. This team is remote-first, with engineers based in Leeds, Amsterdam and London. We’re flexible on your location but ideally, you’ll be willing to travel to your closest office for an occasional team social event.

As our new Backend Software Engineer, you’ll have the opportunity to:

• Maintain services which are essential to DAZN’s platform, handling thousands of requests per second
• Collaborate on the future of our services and architecture
• Deliver features to millions of customers
• Learn from, and share your knowledge with, your teammates and the wider company
• Work with our tech stack – AWS (ECS, ALB, Lambda, CloudFront, DynamoDB, and more), JS, TS, WebSockets, and more (ask us about this!)

You’ll be set up for success if you have:

• Built and maintained services on AWS
• Experience working with micro-services
• Some experience (or at least a desire to work with) JavaScript and TypeScript
• Ability to take ideas through to delivery

Even better if you have:

• Experience with maintaining and operating systems at high-scale
• Written Terraform (or any IaC tool)
• Contributed to open-source projects
