As a software engineer in the Core Services team, you’ll be working on some of the most important services at DAZN

What’s the role?

We’re looking for a versatile Frontend engineer who can wear many hats to join our Core Services team. Our team keeps the lights on for the whole dazn.com infrastructure. Every customer uses our services, whether watching on the web, mobile or TV. You’ll be driven by the challenge of building and maintaining services used by millions of people at once.

Some days, you’ll be heads-down in code, writing new functionality for our frontend libraries. Other days, you’ll be helping to plan the future of our services and communicating with our stakeholders across the business. Reliability is essential to our team, and we’re also fast-paced and pragmatic. We’re a full-stack team, so you’ll get the opportunity to work on our backend services too, if you wish. You’ll join us on our regular chaos testing sessions and learn how our services perform during failures.

This is a great opportunity to develop within a supportive, collaborative team who are always learning from each other and adopt continuous improvement. We’re inclusive and encourage everyone to bring their ideas to the table. This team is remote-first, with engineers based in Leeds, Amsterdam and London. We’re flexible on your location but ideally, you’ll be willing to travel to your closest office for an occasional team social event.

As our new Frontend Software Engineer, you’ll have the opportunity to:

• Maintain libraries and services which are essential to DAZN’s platform
• Write “vanilla” frontend code – we don’t use frameworks (React/Angular) in this team as we don’t render anything
• Collaborate on the future of our services and architecture
• Learn from, and share your knowledge with, your teammates and the wider company
• Embrace our “You build it – you own it” culture and provide operational support for our services
• Work with our tech stack – JS, TS, WebSockets, AWS, and more (ask us about this!)

You’ll be set up for success if you have:

• Built and maintained frontend libraries
• Expert in Front-end JavaScript/TypeScript
• Ability to take ideas through to delivery
• Worked on complex frontend applications

Even better if you have:

• Worked on micro-frontend and microservice architectures
• Contributed to open-source projects
• Experience with live operations and monitoring frontend applications
• Familiar with test frameworks such as Jest, TestCafe, and WebdriverIO
• Desire to learn AWS and work on backend services (we’ll support you with this)!
