Purolite, an Ecolab company, the world leader in resin-based separation, purification and extraction technology, is seeking a Control Systems / Automation Engineerat our state-of-the-art manufacturing site in Llatrisant, Wales!

TheControl Systems / Automation Engineerwill be responsible for improving, troubleshooting and maintaining the PLC SCADA system (Siemens S7). You’ll develop requirements and specifications and will also project manage third party contractors for large projects to ensure Purolite’s manufacturing processes are replicated as they are scaled up. You’ll be part of a close working, hands on team. Each member has the empowerment and ownership of their work to help progress the company towards their objectives.

What You’ll Do
  • Ownership of entire PLC SCADA system to the required standards including for data integrity requirements.
  • Lead improvement and troubleshooting micro projects in a systematic, methodical way by working with Process Engineers and Production Operators.
  • Proactively develop the existing system to handle new products, formulations and process steps while following the Quality Management System requirements and maintaining the required documentation for the system.
  • Respond to issues faced by production and reduce downtime by investigating faults and issues.
  • Assess risks of changes (Quality, Environmental, Safety & Health), fully pressure test and review the effectiveness once in place.
  • Project manage minor and major changes, including with 3rd party contractors, to ensure on time delivery.
  • Deliver training to Production Operators and other staff to be able to effectively use the system.
What You’ll Need
  • Degree in Electrical/Systems Engineering or lower qualification with equivalent experience
  • Siemens S7 PLC competence certification & TIA Portal training courses & competence
  • Experience working with SQL database and reporting
  • Self-starter, methodical and able to prioritise work.
What Else Would Be Useful
  • Proficient in Win CC/SQL and also communications/electrical devices (Profibus, VSDs, instrumentation)
  • Experience in a chemical manufacturing environment, or similar.
  • Awareness of working in a Quality regulated environment (GMP, Excipact)
  • Project Management experience
