As an Assistant Psychologist within the CRHTT team, you will find great variety in both case presentation and the tasks required of you. The post-holder will be contributing to the work of the psychologists, MDT and other professionals in the CRHTT team. Our aims are to offer compassion to the individual’s recent acute experience, support any immediate needs, whilst identifying the appropriate onward referral pathway if suitable. It can be a fast-paced environment, so organization and due diligence are essential. With excellent communication and people skills, you will be calm, confident and assertive in emotionally demanding situations.

There are lots of current developments to get involved with due to a recent re-structure of the CRHTT Psychology Team, with career development posts being introduced, so this is an exciting time to join us. In addition to core roles within the MDT, we have an established support system of individual, group and peer supervision, and good connections with primary and secondary care providers. Ideally, we are looking for someone enthusiastic about working within the mental health sector, with prior experience of working with complexity and management of risk.

Although based at The Old Forge within the Wokingham CRHTT, you may be required to attend other locations within the trust, and occasionally attend the homes of service users. There is flexibility to attend to certain tasks from your home environment where agreed.

  • You will be contributing to assessment, e.g. direct observations, formal psychometric testing, semi-structured interviews
  • You will co-ordinate and assist in the development and delivery of groups as the service requires and will also be required to occasionally work individually with service users and their family/carer’s to deliver evidence-based psychological interventions.
  • Writing appropriate notes and clear care plans is essential for a smooth experience of the service user within the service. You may be required to draft reports / letters.
  • Liaison with other services is a key part of your role.
  • Developing and disseminating information for service users, carers, colleagues, referrers, and commissioners
  • Literature searches, e.g. to inform best practice and undertake tasks associated with research, audit and service evaluations
  • Tasks associated with service development projects
