ENGIE’s Highways Design Team is part of an established, successful and award-winning partnership with North East Lincolnshire Council. The team have secured a number of high-profile regeneration and infrastructure projects across the UK, as well as being responsible for delivery of the Local Transport Plan for North East Lincolnshire Council.

Due to continued multiple funding opportunities and a further increased pipeline of work, the ENGIE Highways Design team have an exciting opportunity to recruit an Assistant Highways Design Engineer to join the already established team of 15 to deliver a wide variety of major Infrastructure schemes for North East Lincolnshire Council.

What is your day to day?

Working as part of the Highways Design team the post holder will assist the Design Team to provide a full range of highway related design services to our partners North East Lincolnshire Council and the Borough’s residents.

Further training will be provided to build on the civil engineering qualifications already obtained, this will require weekly attendance College to secure a BTEC Higher Diploma in Construction and the built environment.

You will also assist with:

  • The development and design of highway engineering projects, including construction supervision for highway engineering projects as well as contributing to delivering briefs / works for other project teams.
  • Lead on the delivery of minor highway project with reduced assistance from senior engineers
  • Project manage minor highway improvement projects, including administration of contracts.
  • Take a lead in contractor engagement & management
  • Develop a knowledge of highway design standards, CDM requirements, tender processes and health and safety regulations, Bill of Quantities and contractual documentation.
  • For the projects you lead on you will be expected to lead with clients, members of the public and stakeholder liaison.
  • Undertake on-site inspections, provide feedback and solutions where required.
  • Record project finance and report to client. Agree variations with contractor
  • Undertake such other duties as may reasonably be expected at this level.

Qualifications

Who are you?

  • BTEC Level 3 Built Environment/Civil Engineering Degree
  • Ability to work on own initiative.
  • Competent in the use of Microsoft packages including Word and Excel.
  • Proficient in AutoCad
  • Candidates should have the ability to communicate confidently and clearly.
  • Candidates should demonstrate initiative, be self-motivated, have strong interpersonal skills and the attitude, conduct and demeanour to reflect ENGIE values.
  • Flexible to meet the needs of the service
  • Adaptable to change and new ways of working
