Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Actual hours: 8.00am-4.30pm (April to September) and 8.00am-4.30pm Monday-Thursday and 8.00am-3.30pm Fridays (October to March) with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break on each.
Pay: £22,000 - £24,000
We are looking for a positive and enthusiastic Assistant Gardener to join our experienced and well-respected team of 12 grounds staff. You will report directly to the Head Gardener and be responsible for ensuring that the College’s extensive and varied gardens continue to provide an attractive and inspiring setting for us all to enjoy.
The College continues to invest heavily in its outdoor spaces, including innovative irrigation systems and in state-of-the-art machinery. You will be joining the College at an exciting time in its history as we prepare to celebrate our centenary and open our multi-million-pound Science Centre, which will include a fabulous walled garden.
This is an exciting role offering opportunities for development and training.
To assist the gardening with the following tasks;
- Planting of trees and shrubs
- Planning and designing of new areas
- Pruning and maintenance of existing beds/borders
- Weeding and spraying
- Mowing, strimming & edging
- Hedge cutting
- Supporting the Grounds Team in other seasonal activities including salting, marquee erection and event car parking.
The Candidate must be able to drive due to the location of the college and potentially attending college. This is a very isolated site and there are no buses locally.
