Assistant Accountant

Full-Time, Permanent Position

Salary From £25,000 Up To £28,000 Dependent On Experience

We are currently recruiting for an Assistant Accountant who will be responsible for supporting all operations of the finance function for Yorkshire Sculpture Park and its subsidiary trading company. You will be part of a small finance team who deal with all aspects of accounting for the varied activities of the business. Amongst other duties, the post holder will have responsibility for website sales records, fixed asset control, monthly and weekly payrolls and pension administration. The post will also assist with the preparation of the annual budget, production of financial reports, monitoring financial performance, provision of information for the annual audit and ensuring accounting procedures and processes are correctly adhered to.

Yorkshire Sculpture Park is an international centre for the creation, display and appreciation of modern and contemporary art - located in 500 acres of historic-designed landscape and five indoor galleries. Offering a unique platform for a range of practitioners, from major figures to emerging artists, it provides access to an important collection and extensive learning opportunities. YSP was awarded the prestigious Art Fund Museum of the Year in 2014 and welcomes over half a million visitors each year.

We are looking for a person who is able to demonstrate a suitable level of finance operation experience and has excellent IT and numeric skills. We would expect the successful candidate to have good analytical and problem solving skills. The business uses SAGE 50 Cloud Accounts Professional for maintaining accounting records and SAGE 50 Cloud Payroll as well as extensive use of MS Excel spreadsheets. It would be useful if the candidate has had some experience with operating payroll systems and has strong skills with using and creating spreadsheets. The successful candidate will need to be flexible in terms of dealing with some ad-hoc duties and there will be a requirement to provide cover at certain times on duties that are undertaken by other members of the finance team.
