Glasswells is the largest independent home department store in East Anglia, providing excellent quality furnishings, including furniture, flooring, curtains and a wide range of homewares. At the Place To Eat restaurant we offer a wide assortment of dishes. There is an opportunity for a chef apprentice to join the restaurant team.

We are looking for a production chef apprentice to join the team in our in-store Place to Eat restaurant in Bury St Edmunds, working five out of seven days on a rota basis, 37.5 hours per week. You will be enrolled onto a 12 month Production Chef course at West Suffolk College, completion of which gains an industry recognised qualification. The starting salary is £4.50 per hour.

Working primarily back of house, you will receive on the job training, as well as remote learning, and will be trained in all aspects of core restaurant hospitality and catering including:
  • Kitchen hygiene standards
  • Compliance procedures
  • Adaptation of dishes to meet dietary requirements of the customers
  • Understand and fulfil HACCP requirements
  • Use of specialist kitchen equipment
  • Stocktake and wastage procedures
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues and customers
  • Continued development
You will be expected to provide the high level of customer service that Glasswells customers have come to expect.

Level 2 Production Chef Apprenticeship

GCSE Grade 4 or above in maths and English.
