ENGIE are recruiting for an Apprentice Plumber/ Heating Technician to be based in Grimsby. This is a permanent full-time role working Monday to Friday. On offer is a competitive salary, and benefits package.

ENGIE have identified a great opportunity to introduce an Apprentice Plumber and Heating Technician to their Property Maintenance Team. ENGIE are looking to employ a confident and motivated professional to work at the North East Lincolnshire Contract who is looking for career and personal development opportunities. The successful candidate will be responsible to the Facilities Management (FM) Manager and will develop their skills as part of a wider property maintenance team.

The applicant will be required to be competent with using a computer and have an interest in a plumbing and heating systems and property construction career. As part of their development, they will assist in developing short term work plans for delivering specific building construction work and commit to undertaking a professional construction qualification.

The role will focus on the development of skills to undertake the following:

Main Responsibilities/Duties Include:

  • To assist in the undertaking of plumbing and heating maintenance tasks in residential and commercial properties.
  • To assist in other property construction activities in support of maintenance activities by the property maintenance team.
  • To attend site to assist in undertaking site surveys, assess building condition, with appropriate support, training and mentoring.
  • To assist with the development of briefs, specifications, scopes of work, reports, supporting documents or any other technical information to contribute to the delivery of works.
  • To assist to maintain a safe working environment, with appropriate support, training and mentoring.
  • To assist with procuring materials and equipment to enable the works to be undertaken.
  • Learn the aspect of plumbing and domestic heating design, technologies and working involved with construction, through training, development and practical skills.
  • To develop their knowledge in order to ensure all work is undertaken to legislative standards, Approved Codes of Practice and best practice.
  • To be a part of a project group who assist with the issuing of works orders, as part of their development, ensuring compliance with legislative, contractual and workmanship requirements including the briefing and commissioning of all consultants and clients.
  • To ensure that value is added to the work of the team through innovation and creativity.
  • To participate and successfully pass Level 3 Plumbing and Domestic Heating Technician professional qualification, funded by ENGIE.
  • To operate within the policies, systems and business plans of Asset Management and ENGIE.
  • To deliver all works in compliance with ENGIE Safety, Health, Environmental & Quality (SHEQ) standards and policies in line with ISO 45001 (Health & Safety), ISO 14001 (Environmental) & ISO 9001 (Quality).
  • To undertake any other duties as may be reasonably expected at this level.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications, Skills or Experience:

  • To meet the requirements and demands of the post, the post holder will need the following:
  • To have the interest in property maintenance, specific to plumbing and heating systems and technologies
  • Motivated, with high standards and a desire to learn and develop a career in property construction works.
  • IT skills / experience of working with Microsoft Office systems, i.e., Word & Excel are essential
  • To have excellent communication skills
  • To have a methodical approach using your own initiative to plan, prioritise and organise works during busy times
  • Punctuality with the means to attend the workplace
  • Able to interact with others
  • A minimum of five GCSEs grade 4 or above which must include English, Maths, Science and a technology related subject.
  • The flexibility to meet the needs of the service is essential.
