Your new company
The Money and Pensions Service (MaPS) vision is everyone making the most of their money and pensions. This newly formed organisation brings together the three free services previously delivered by the Money Advice Service, The Pensions Advisory Service and Pension Wise. MaPS is an arms-length organisation, sponsored by the Department for Work and Pensions, with a joint commitment to ensuring that people have access and guidance to the information they need to make effective financial decisions over their lifetime. To deliver this objective the Pensions Dashboards Programme (PDP) has been formed to design the framework to make pensions dashboards a reality.

Your new role
The role of the Analyst is to lead the development of analysis for the Pensions Dashboards Programme’s business cases, including to inform costs, benefits, critical success factors and evaluation strategy whilst supporting the programme to develop its proposition based on robust evidence and promote the work of the programme.

Key Responsibilities will include:

  • Business cases: Lead development of analysis for business cases within the programme.
  • Benefits: Work collaboratively with DWP and other programme partners to identify the benefits of the programme and scope how these can be monetised.
  • Costs: Identify and undertake modelling work required to estimate the volumes of users of the service and how these impact on costs and service provision / service level agreements etc.
  • Critical Success Factors and Evaluation: Work with programme partners to develop critical success factors and an evaluation strategy that is consistent across different delivery partners.
  • Analytical leadership: Contribute to ensuring that the programme is based on robust evidence, that any evidence gaps are identified and recommend how they can be filled.


What you’ll need to succeed
In order to be successful on application, it is expected that you will possess the following skills/experience:

  • Experience of leading analysis to support strategic decision making, bringing together data, analysis and modelling to understand implications and potential areas for change.
  • Knowledge and practical application, including quality assurance, of a range of modelling approaches or quantitative analytical techniques.
  • Experience of spreadsheet modelling techniques.
  • Ability to work collaboratively, and build relationships with a wide range of stakeholders - inside and outside MaPS including DWP and HMT.
  • Ability to communicate analytical work effectively to a wide range of audiences, including being able to translate complex analytical work to senior non-analytical colleagues.
  • Ability to synthesise a wide range of insight and data, drawing evidence-based conclusions that drive decision making.
  • Ability to look beyond immediate work area to understand how it fits into rest of the programme as well as how external developments affect your own work.


Although not essential it would be beneficial if you possessed the following skills/experience:

  • Experience of developing analysis for business cases in line with HMT Green Book guidance including employing CBA techniques to support VFM decisions in a project or initiative.
  • Knowledge of pensions
  • Using a range of analytical techniques to model volumes in a service delivery context.
  • Delivering in a high ambiguity, rapidly changing delivery focused environment


What you’ll get in return
In return you will be placed onto a fixed term contract for 18-24 months paying circa £55,000 per annum.
