The Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (OUHFT) Gastroenterology, Endoscopy and Theatres Directorate is looking for an experienced and conscientious clinical pharmacist with good communication, organisational and interpersonal skills and an enthusiastic outlook to support service expansion as part of a friendly and dynamic pharmacy team lead by a consultant pharmacist.

As a team we support a range of services to ward, day case unit, outpatients, endoscopy and theatres in one of the largest acute teaching Trusts in the UK, with a national and international reputation for the excellence of its services and its role in teaching and research.

This post will provide the successful candidate an opportunity to develop both their clinical, managerial and research skills and develop a collaborative working relationship with both senior and junior clinicians and nursing teams within the organisation and with colleagues in primary care.

The successful candidate should have some previous gastroenterology/hepatology pharmacy experience and be an independent non-medical prescriber

Key Aspects Of The Role Include
  • Provide a holistic, specialist pharmaceutical care service to patients receiving medication delivered via homecare services, including providing advice and counselling on biologic and other high- risk therapies , registering new patients and ensuring continuity of supply
  • Work as a non- medical prescriber within an agreed framework
  • Lead on the transition of patients currently on intravenous vedolizumab to subcutaneous vedolizumab to be delivered via homecare services
  • Support the sustainability and development of Homecare services within the directorate
  • Oversee pharmacy services to the gastroenterology ward and daycase unit
  • Develop services provided by pharmacy to theatres within the directorate
  • Support services to gastroenterology and hepatology outpatients and the endoscopy unit
  • Maintain records of patients on high cost therapies (e.g. biologics) and assist with monitoring such as BlueTeq to ensure compliance with NICE and commissioning guidelines
  • Line manage and mentor band 7 pharmacists and pre-registration pharmacists working within the team
  • Provide education, training and support to pharmacy, nursing and medical colleagues to enable the clinical units to meet high standards of patient care and safety
  • Participate in clinical audit and research for publication
  • Participation in weekend and bank holiday rota
