About The RoleWe are looking for an Electrical & Instrumentation Technician to join one of our shift teams on site at our Paper Mill in Skelmersdale.As a Shift Electrical & Instrumentation Technician you will use your technical expertise and knowledge to maintain and improve the day to day operational efficiency of our machinery, by ensuring regular and efficient maintenance is carried out.You will solve problems quickly and effectively to support the overall aim of hitting key performance indicators.  Carrying out both predictive and reactive work you will work both independently and as part of a shift team.You will ideally bring with you experience of PLC’s, either Siemens or Allen Bradley controlled equipment, servo invertor drives together with a ‘fix it for good’ mentalityYou will also need to be comfortable in working with large scale plant and machinery and have a passion for safety.We’re looking for people who embody our values, aren’t afraid to challenge, innovate, experiment, and move at a fast pace. Who You AreWe’d love to hear from you if you have the following skills:
  • Proven Electrical and Instrumentation experience in a heavy industry, manufacturing or process environment
  • A recognised electrical or electrical/instrumentation engineering apprenticeship preferably with a City & Guilds or equivalent NVQ qualification
  • Proven experience in maintaining complex automated manufacturing systems and equipment
  • Excellent trouble shooting skills, with the ability to plan and work to tight timelines while managing several tasks
  • Experience in panel wiring
  • Knowledge of process instrumentation
  • Knowledge of pneumatic/hydraulic components
  • Strong communication skills
  • Strong PC skills (excel, word, project)
Although not essential, the following would be desirable:
  • HNC level qualification
  • High Voltage experience
  • Knowledge of boiler & burner systems
  • Mobile Elevated Working Platforms (MEWPS) Licence
  • Papermaking experience
