This is an exciting opportunity to support the existing TB administrator and TB team providing administrative support appropriate to the needs of the TB service and BCG maternity pathway.

Main duties of the job

The TB team work closely with a team of multi-professionals, which span a number of divisions within the Trust who work collaboratively to diagnose and treat TB infection and disease. The team also work in collaboration with the maternity services in the administration of the BCG programme. The Respiratory Medicine Department hold overall responsibility for the TB team’s performance.


The TB team Service works closely with the MDT Team who are responsible for facilitating an efficient and effective transition for patients through the TB service pathway ensuring they receive the appropriate diagnostic tests and first definitive treatment within a specified timescale,


Working for our organisation

The TB services administrator is responsible for assisting the TB services in facilitating an efficient and effective transition for patients through the TB service description/care pathway ensuring they receive the appropriate diagnostic tests and first definitive treatment within a specified timescale. The post holder will work under the supervision of the Lead TB nurse providing administration support appropriate to the needs of the TB service and BCG maternity pathway.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The Respiratory Department sits within the Medicine Division in the City Directorate which is also home to Cardiac Surgery and Cardiology. The wider division deliver a number of acute and elective specialities.


Respiratory Medicine is a diverse speciality providing both inpatient and outpatient care across a portfolio of sub-specialities within the department. We provide care for a range of long term respiratory conditions both common and rare. We hold regional and national centre status in a number of these disciplines. We also deliver acute care via our 5 base wards and provide a Respiratory Assessment Unit which takes direct admissions. In addition, a portfolio of respiratory diagnostics and procedures are delivered including bronchoscopy, pleural procedures and lung physiology services.


Department is made up of 295 staff who span the following professional groups; Nursing, Additional Clinical Services, Administrative and Clerical, Add Prof Scientific and Technic, Healthcare Scientists, Estates and Ancillary and Allied Health Professionals.


Our aim is to provide outstanding outcomes for our patients in relation to the care, treatment and management of chronic and acute respiratory illnesses.

  • Educated to GCSE standard with passes at Grade C or above for English and Maths
  • NVQ 3 or equivalent.

Salary: The quoted salary will be on a pro rata basis for part time workers.
