This is a 12-month secondment

The primary duty of the post holder is to work with the Care Group Leadership Team (CGLT) to ensure that the Trust can be assured that Quality and Safety targets are being monitored and that any risks associated with them are identified. To provide support in the development of integrated governance throughout the Care Group.

The post holder will be responsible for maintaining and updating an evidence library for key targets and ensuring that all policy and documentation required as evidence is appropriately managed and maintained.

The post holder will work closely with the CGLT to promote and identify actions for clinical governance issues, agree remedial plans, audit plans, record actions and risk issues, reflect and advise.

The post holder will work with the CGLT by facilitating mock assessments, critical friends visits and interviews with staff, building working relationships to assist the Trust in being compliant with key standards.

To work with colleagues to ensure that governance and risk principles, Quality and Safety outcomes are put into practice and embedded across the structure and functions of the Care Group

Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust provides integrated acute and community Healthcare in the West Midlands serving a population of 260,000 residents. Walsall Manor Hospital houses the full range of district general hospital services. The £170 million development was completed in 2010 and we are continually upgrading. Construction of the new integrated critical care unit was completed in2018, extension of a Neonatal Unit and brand new, state of the art Emergency Department is in the process of being completed.

To support the CGLT in the review and monitoring of clinical incidents, to facilitate updating incidents/ adding attachments, and closing where appropriate, in line with requirements for Divisional Safety Huddle.

To support the CGLT in the monitoring of formal complaints including ensuring investigations are completed timely and action plans are monitored and evidenced.

To support the work of the CGLT and clinical leads to complete Initial Case Reviews and support with investigations.

To support the work of the CGLT and clinical leads to identify areas of risk around standards of care, developing monitoring action plans and review/collation of supporting evidence.

To support the work of the CGLT and clinical leads in implementing the Clinical Audit Programme for the Care Group, liaising with the Clinical Audit ad Effectiveness Team.

To work with the CGLT to identify, develop and facilitate the dissemination of good practice, guidelines, learned experience and policies throughout the Care Group.

To support the divisional leads to adopt and localise national guidance e.g. (NICE) and support their implementation across all service areas.

To assist the CGLT on the generation of reports produced from analysis of Care Group level data and information in order to feed into and inform patient safety and safety improvement work.

To produce reports as required for the governance committees/groups and Trust Board.

To assist in facilitation at workshops, staff induction programmes, away days and other events.

To facilitate at Care Group governance meetings.

To assist with any other governance work as deemed appropriate by the Head of Governance.
