Job Description

As our Account Team Leader, you will provide leadership to part of the Account Lead team in support of the National Business Lead and in line with UK/ EUCAN processes to ensure consistency of approach and compliance with the ABPI code of practice.

You will be required to continue the development of a high performing, dynamic Account Lead team

As the Account Team Leader, you will collaborate closely with the National Business Lead to drive sales and provide sales leadership input for the cross-functional brand team.


Key Accountabilities:

  • Establish and manage a high-performing Account Lead team, providing guidance under the direction of the National Business Lead and in alignment with the Remote Team Leader
  • Encourage and champion the appropriate mix of team channel communication management in accordance with HCP preference and business needs.
  • Establish relationships with other first-line sales managers as needed
  • Process management across the Account Lead team to ensure consistency and compliance with ABPI and company procedures and regulations.
  • Analyse sales data to identify gaps and areas of key opportunity regionally
  • Develop and introduce innovative ideas/ support training for the Account Lead team in conjunction with other members of the cross functional team in order to improve efficiency and effectiveness of activities
  • Develop and maintain in-depth knowledge of the company’s Neuroscience products, the relevant disease areas and the structure and workings of the NHS and proactively support the Account Led team to identify challenges/ opportunities
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of the Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry (ABPI) Code of Practice and ensure all activities of the Account Lead team are in line with the Code
  • Contribute to the strategic and operational brand planning process including customer insights to support strategy and communications.
  • To act as an Account Lead within their territory
  • Use specific ADHD and product knowledge to support Takeda’s ADHD portfolio and become a field based commercial leader of drug and disease for Takeda
    • Keep up to date with clinical training
    • Ensure accurate information relating to licensed products and indications are communicated to HCPs
  • Develop own abilities in line with the competency development framework
  • Build and maintain partnerships with key HCPs
    • Identify and map key stakeholders
    • Develop a key account plan for how best to engage with HCPs and develop long term relationships to drive sales of Takeda’s promoted products
    • Become the preferred partner on therapy area for priority customers and provide solutions based upon promotional strategy
    • Develop credibility to be able to debate with and appropriately challenge HCP opinion based on published evidence
    • Measure impact of activities and adjust plans to ensure achievement of agreed goals and objectives
  • Collaboration with Takeda project teams (e.g. brand teams) to ensure alignment of field based activities and central plans.
  • Support Market Access team activities and direct unsolicited medical and scientific enquiries to MSLs

Key Skills, Knowledge and Experience:

  • Natural and skilled collaborator with strong communication & leadership skills
  • Ability to lead and develop a sales team
  • Degree level or equivalent vocational qualifications
  • Account Lead or similar experience
  • Good interpersonal skills, strong work ethic, confident and enthusiastic, flexible team player. Ability to manage time effectively to ensure tasks are completed within timelines and juggle priorities as required
  • Ability to manage and motivate a team
  • Excellent working knowledge of ABPI.
  • Excellent communication and networking, both written and verbal
  • Good presentation skills
  • Commercial understanding and business interest
  • Leadership skills
