Job summary

The 2 FTS Ground Engineering Assurance Manager will be an integral member of the Engineering Wing Team responsible for providing effective and efficient support to the provision of a safe and memorable Gliding experience to RAF Air Cadets. The post will be responsible for ensuring that all ground engineering is optimized and that engineering quality assurance activities are in place and managed.

This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.

Job description

The successful candidate will provide ground engineering assurance activities across 9 dispersed locations, ensuring engineering activities are conducted in the safest manner and compliant with the various mandated regulations. Assurance of all activity will be conducted by managing Independent Quality Audits and Engineering Visits where advice and guidance is expected to be delivered to continually improve standards and outputs.

Due to the widespread location of the Volunteer Glider Squadrons, there will be a significant element of weekend working during the year. This can be self-managed and time off in lieu will be awarded.

Person specification

The candidate is expected to possess a suitable qualification, or appropriate formal training, with at least three years relevant experience in an engineering/quality environment and have operated with a quality system

Proven delivery of successful engineering quality audits is essential but specific training to gain local qualifications will also be given.

A clean driving licence and willingness to visit Volunteer Gliding Squadron located across the UK, often at weekends, is also required although assistance will be given from the wider team.

A working knowledge of the Military Aviation Authority regulations and Joint Service publications would be helpful, as would excellent communication and influencing skills.
