The Trust is seeking a Trust Wide Lead Practitioner in Design & Technology (0.2-0.4FTE). The role is likely to be based in Northampton, with some travel to Secondary Academies across the Trust - and commence in Autumn 2023 or Spring 2024.

About the role

We are looking for an outstanding Leading Practitioner (LP) to provide both excellent teaching and lead on developing Design & Technology (D&T) departments in our academies.

The TWLP - DT should support the Senior Leadership Team to create a culture of constant improvements and be an inspirational leader. They will do everything possible to raise the quality of teaching and learning in the academies they are working with and directly with the people they coach. This will be achieved primarily through contributing to Trust-wide curriculum development and through modelling, coaching and delivery of CPD.

0.2-0.4 FTE – Permanent Role

The role can be stand alone or work alongside another role, including currently available teaching roles within the Trust.

Who we are looking for

  • Degree in Design & Technology related subject
  • Qualified Teacher Status
  • Knowledge of Design & Technology educational research and key debates within the Design & Technology subject community
  • Knowledge of the national curriculum programme of study for Design & Technology and of current subject developments
  • Knowledge of current educational developments and issues
  • Capacity to develop, deliver, monitor and evaluate initial and in-service training of Design & Technology teachers so as to ensure that developments in Design & Technology curricula are understood, further developed, enthusiastically embraced and efficiently taught by teachers of Design & Technology at all levels of development
  • Excellent subject knowledge and expertise demonstrated through secondary Design & Technology teaching experience.
  • Experience of successful leadership and curriculum development in Design & Technology education
  • Proven track record of securing strong academic performance and raising standards of achievement through student outcomes in Design & Technology
  • A passion for education and particularly the delivery of Design & Technology
