Custody and Fund Services, a division of J.P. Morgan Chase Bank, N.A.’s Securities Services business, is a global industry leader with over $31 trillion in assets under custody. J.P. Morgan provides innovative custody, fund accounting and administration and securities services to the world’s largest institutional investors, alternative asset managers and debt and equity issuers. J.P. Morgan’s Custody and Fund Services business is comprised of Custody, Accounting, Transfer Agency, Middle Office outsourcing, Foreign Exchange, and other activities related to servicing assets for traditional and alternative funds; it leverages its scale and capabilities in more than 100 markets to help clients optimize efficiency, mitigate risk and enhance revenue through a broad range of investor services as well as securities clearance, trading services and alternative investment services.

Position Summary

Tax Product Management is part of the Product Management function focusing on the management and control of the Global Custody business with the specific aim, along with the Business leads, Operations, Product Control function and the Client teams to run the Global Custody Tax function end to end. This team has responsibility for the definition, ownership and business management of custody tax related matters within the Global Custody business.

Key Responsibilities Of The Role Will Include
  • Monitoring and management of implementation of tax changes across direct access / direct custody markets. Assess impact to product and service offering to custody business locations and their respective clients. Manage appropriate internal and external communications.
  • Management of the oversight model ensuring that tax regulations and associated reporting obligations are met in each market. Review and refine the oversight model resulting from changes in market requirements and/or business structure.
  • Maintenance of relevant internal / external materials reflecting current state of local law, treaty, including entity level taxation of various types of investor.
  • Management of tax information in JPMorgan’s Tax Intelligence platform.
  • Working with advisors and industry participants to oversee the tax service in the local markets.
  • Participate in relevant industry associations.
  • Drafting of market flashes and associated policies, tax product materials, etc.
  • Collaboration with the Operations and Corporate Tax teams to assess the impact of Market & Regulatory developments on the Global Custody Tax product offering. Ensure that resultant solutions meet agreed requirements / standards.
  • Definition and implementation of new and / or enhanced tax product features and functions.
  • Support client requests that require a change to the custody tax service offering. Conduct business assessments, define / create solutions and manage the implementation.
Global Custody Tax Product Team General Responsibilities
  • Develop solutions to allow clients to manage the administration of their global custody assets portfolio investment tax considerations.
  • Convert tax law / policy / rule changes into business and system requirement.
  • Update client facing information and policy in accordance with defined JPMorgan standards.
  • Engage in industry representative efforts related to the introduction of new regulations or the amendment of tax legislation and associated administrative procedures.
  • Maintain Tax product definition. This requires a detailed understanding of the core service offering, how is it delivered, who are the clients and how risks are managed. The role will require knowledge of the cost to serve elements associated with the delivery of the service.
  • Ensure a globally consistent service across the Global Custody Tax product to include: legal & risk framework, service model, reporting and required account structures.
  • Perform ongoing competitive analysis and benchmarking to influence strategy.
  • BAU support for Global Custody Tax client requests in relation to core tax service offering.
  • Support for new business activity. Response to RFPs, creation of pitchbook materials and attendance at sales meetings.
  • Analysis of product impacts, opportunities & threats of external and internal changes from a tax perspective.
  • Performance of governance and quality assurance oversight of Global Custody Tax solutions / operating models developed against a global standard.
Skills

And Qualifications
  • Strong knowledge of securities taxation principles and tax considerations impacting institutional portfolio investors and tax service delivered by global custodians.
  • Significant experience working in a professional services firm, a financial services firm, and/or product management role.
  • Demonstrated ability to review invest market tax requirements / obligations and the creation of required business oversight models for the management of tax risk.
  • Ability to drive process change, from the definition of initial requirements through to the delivery of the end solution.
  • Proven expertise in developing, prioritising and delivering business solutions.
  • Strong presentation skills and demonstrable client facing experience.
  • Experience in managing and influencing key business partners for the delivery of the services.
  • Excellent communication, influencing and negotiation skills with the ability to establish and communicate the Global Custody Tax strategy.
  • Strong organisational and planning skills and a track record of delivery.
  • Understanding of commercial aspects of the custody business.
