Estio Training have an exciting new opportunity for a Level 4 Network Engineer Apprentice with Heights (UK) Limited, an engineering design company based in Halifax.

Job Description:

Under the direction of the Management, to be responsible for the management of ICT hardware and software systems, including the management of the network and advising on future developments.

Under the direction of the Management, to be responsible for the management and housekeeping of the Finance Packages throughout the business and advise on future developments.

To co-operate with senior staff in the development of ICT systems throughout the business and help identify opportunities to improve the use of these systems.

To research systems and solutions and report to senior staff on how these developments can be used effectively in the business.

To provide technical support to all staff, and company guests, in relation to the purchase and use of products.

To organise work schedules, training, and development of ICT systems.

To provide technical support to our associated companies, and other partners.

Your duties and responsibilities in this role will consist of:

  • Overseeing and managing all information management systems, network infrastructure, and external communications, including cellular and telephony.
  • Being responsible for the preparation of specifications for all hardware and software requirements throughout the company liaising with suppliers as appropriate.
  • Advising Senior Staff on purchases and development for ICT throughout the company.
  • Being responsible for the maintenance of stocks and supplies in sufficient quantity, stock security and inventory control of ICT stock and redeployment of resources when necessary.
  • Being responsible for Data back-up and systems security including copying, restoring and storage of media, and maintenance of a virus-free environment.
  • Working within Health & Safety guidelines and advise Senior Staff of appropriate measures for ICT.
  • Organising and undertaking appropriate training for all staff in the operation and methods of using computer systems and applications.
  • Producing risk assessments, user manuals or training procedures in relation to the company’s technical systems.
  • Being responsible for investigating IT legislation and government directives that affect the Company and reporting these to senior managers.
  • Other to operate as a member of the company’s ICT Strategy group, initiating change and management of such changes. To uphold the ethos and standards established within the company and contribute to improvement at all levels.

Qualifications:

5 GCSEs grades A*-C/9-4 or equivalent (including English Language and Maths)

Skills Required:

  • Strong technical and analytical skills.
  • Experience of problem analysis and resolution.
  • Experience of supporting IT customers in a commercial environment.
  • Windows server and desktop operating systems including virtual environments.
  • Office product suite including Office 365 administration and development (preferable).

Personal qualities:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to keep calm in stressful situations.
  • Ability to work alone or as part of a team.
  • Good organisational skills.
