Summary (Major Purpose of the Role):

To ensure that routine and preventative maintenance is carried out as and when required to correct equipment breakdowns and with external contractors as required. To operate all aspects of the day to day maintenance in reporting and rectification of building/plant defects and modifications to ensure operational safety; output and quality standards are maintained. As part of the team of maintenance engineers you will be required to undertake both reactive and planned maintenance tasks on the equipment for the safe operation of the production process, in a hygienic manner and within budgetary constraints. The role will require you to be able to demonstrate electrical/electronic and strong mechanical skills and you must also have a familiarity with various systems. You will have a proven background in maintaining plant equipment within either a production or manufacturing environment and have a mechanical bias to your skill set.

Main Activities/Responsibilities:

Working within a team of Engineers - the role of the Engineer is to manage and control all maintenance activities:

· Ensure that agreed standards within the maintenance function are met.

· Minimise the amount of downtime suffered by the site following machine breakdown.

· Undertake PPM’s on equipment in accordance with the required PM schedules.

· Continually monitor plant conditions and report defects as appropriate.

· Liaise with Purchasing Department with respect to the supply of appropriate parts.

· Have control of the spare parts stock and control.

· Provide support to project engineering and continuous improvement programmes.

· Ensure all maintenance activities are recorded on the Company’s in house computerised system in the appropriate manner.

· Must at all times comply with appropriate health, safety and environmental policies and procedures on the site as well as statutory legislation.

Leadership & People Management

· Motivate and support site peers, Supervisor and Production Managers.

· Ensure that all Company employment relations policies and procedures are implemented at all times.

Communication

· Develop and foster good working relationships with peers and related functions

· Health & Safety

· Effectively ensure that all health & safety regulations and practices are met and adhered to for the safety of employees

· Ensure that full co-operation is given to the Health & Safety Manager in relation to risk assessment and accident reporting incidences

General Responsibilities

· Comply with all health & safety requirements

· Comply with all other company policies & procedures

· Delivery a seamless interface with internal and external customers

Competencies:

· A demonstrated competence in the use of CPPM Systems, Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook) and other business management systems

· Previous Experience of Implementing Planned Maintenance Schedules

· Experience in initiating and leading equipment reliability improvements in high volume manufacturing environment

· Able to read and understand mechanical and electrical drawings (Schematics)

· Familiar with AutoCAD

· Expert root cause problem solving and expert practical knowledge of mechanical and electrical engineering

· Experience of working to health & safety standards and regulations such as Loler, Working at Height, PUWER etc.

Education and Experience:

· Engineering Qualification or equivalent

· Engineering experience: ideally multi-skilled experienced mechanical engineer with good electrical skills Previous experience within a high volume manufacturing environment

· Experience of Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement Processes etc

· Computer skills (MS Office, CMMS, SQL, databases etc)

· Experience in the fabrication, laser and welding beneficial
