Role: Head of Commercial Finance

Located: Flexible / ’vibrant’ working (as we call it) however, you will be required to be in Northampton once a week

Working in this newly created permanent position; managing/nurturing a team, collaborating with key internal stakeholders and being active across our key client accounts, you will drive innovation, transformation, new ways of working and ultimately be critical in further enhancing the commerciality of our finance team.

What you will be doing...

Within this pivotal role, as we accelerate our commercial growth strategy, you will be analytical, highly commercial and act as a valued and trusted partner who can quickly build rapport with business leaders. You will be accountable for financial transformation, with a growth mindset who can partner, represent the business performance and add value, including leading contractual commercial insights and offering solutions to gain improved financial results.

Acting as a mentor/coach will be crucial for this role and working with a team-centric mindset will be essential. Elements of the role include:

  • Driving growth initiatives with Sales and Contract Management stakeholders to influence decision making, constructing financial planning, and forecasting models
  • Delivering financial insights showcasing analytics and projections
  • Influencing operational execution, using strong commercial and functional expertise to enable sustainable value creation
  • Identifying and collaborating across business divisions on all financial transformation analysis
  • Providing finance and business support input to tendering and contract negotiation activities
  • Ensuring consistent application of statutory regulatory compliance and audited control
  • Leading, coaching and developing a team of qualified and part qualified financial professionals

You will ideally have...

  • Leader/nurturer of people – we want someone who thrives on personal development
  • Commercially savvy – with extensive experience working within technology or telecommunication industries
  • Comprehensive financial accounting skills supported by a charted accounting qualification (CIMA, ACCA, ACA)
  • Highly developed communication, influencing, networking and negotiation skills with the ability to engage confidently in a wide range of situations.
  • Previous experience gleaned in a client-facing role
  • Credibility and impact - highly developed interpersonal skills and the ability to influence key individuals at all levels.
  • Proven experience of successful commercial/finance transformation assignments in corporate environment.
  • Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to articulate potential risk effects, balancing these against overall risk appetite
  • Substantial experience at senior management level with responsibility for line management of multiple direct reports
  • Ability to lead manage, motivate and develop individuals and teams to create a high-performance working culture
  • Capacity to apply persuasive influence with key stakeholders
  • An adaptable to work in a growth and evolving environment
  • Excellent presentation skills – able to translate complex data for non-finance audience
