E&A Engineer (Electrical & Automation)

Location: Halifax

Salary up to £42,000 DOE plus potential bonus and excellent companywide benefits

Monday – Friday 37 hrs per week

Position Summary

We have an opportunity for someone to join the Engineering Team as an E&A Engineer working as the electrical duty holder, based at our Confectionery factory in Halifax, Yorkshire.

Nestlé Halifax Factory in West Yorkshire is the home of the iconic confectionary brand Quality Street amongst several other well-known brands such as After Eight. These are produced through controlled process plant and automated filling and packing lines.

A day in the life of an E&A Engineer

The E&A Engineer will work as a member of a team to achieve the services objectives and performance targets by safely.

Your role will be to work with other members in the team to facilitate the achievement of factory KPIs through the application of TPM principles, the development of the workforce, and the appropriate application of technology whilst adhering to company policies and Statutory Regulations.

Undertake regular site walks to carry out electrical safety audits and gap assessments with the Senior Duty Holder and electrical technicians.

Other responsibilities will include:
  • Act as the expert and first point of contact for all electrical engineering matters across production and site services.
  • Work with Departmental AMMs, Planners and Maintenance Engineers to ensure maintenance is planned to be carried out on production equipment. (RCD Testing, PAT Testing, HV Network, Thermography etc.)
  • Fulfil Site supervision of electrical tasks and appropriate Health and Safety responsibilities, as identified in Company and Site Health and Safety policies
  • Ensure Nestle personnel and external contractors have the correct competence to carry out tasks identified on their Authorisation Certificate.
  • Ensure all electrical maintenance is carried out in accordance with company regulations and is in compliance with quality, food safety & hygiene requirements.
  • Assist in the preparation of Budgets to ensure statutory and company requirements for electrical maintenance and compliance are met.
  • Optimise the use of external resources, both Nestlé and contract suppliers, to assist in the achievement of factory KPIs, whilst ensuring full compliance with Company purchasing and contract management rules.
  • Systematically review plant performance, identifying and implementing opportunities to improve equipment reliability and efficiency.
What Will Make You Successful

The person that is successful in this role will naturally drive possess a continuous improvement mindset and be above to drive improvement across all of site. You will have an in depth knowledge of UK electrical standards/ regulations and look to own and maintain compliance with in the site.

Other attributes would include:
  • Ideally Educated in Electrical Engineering to Degree, HNC, ONC level or completion of a recognised apprenticeship (NVQ Level 3).
  • Have practical Electrical engineering experience, ideally in a manufacturing environment.
  • Previous experience of utilities plant and project management preferable.
  • Managing safely and Intermediate food hygiene.
  • Someone who takes pride and responsibility in what you do with strong problem solving skills and continuous improvement mind-set.
  • Ability to communication technical information to non-technical audiences.
  • Demonstrate a passion to drive improvements.
