About The Role
Do you want to be part of a team whose purpose is to ensure data is used for the benefit of health and social care? Do you want to play a part in supporting research organisations and health and social care organisations to develop services, medication, analysis and tooling to improve people’s health and wellbeing?
NHS Digital is the national body responsible for collecting, processing and using data from across the NHS and social care and we are looking for motivated people with skills and knowledge in service delivery and information governance to enhance our existing Data Access Request Service (DARS). DARS assists organisations to gain access to a wide range of data sets where there is a legal basis for them to do so and where there is a clear benefit to health and social care.
As a Data Access Team Manager, you will lead a team of Case Officers, Case Managers and Senior Case Managers to progress applications for the release of data for the benefit of Health and Social Care.
You will work alongside other Team Managers to ensure the Data Applications pipeline is managed effectively and be responsible for the managing the delivery of the service.
This role can either be based in Leeds or Southport.
About You
As a Data Access Team Manager, you will be responsible for:
- Managing the service team and ensuring effective workload planning and demand management.
- Providing subject matter expert advice and guidance on our processes.
- Investigating issues and implementing service improvements.
- Liaising with assurance groups to discuss the pipeline of activities, gaining feedback and implementing service changes to improve the processes and engagement with those groups.
- Using audit functions, provide overall assurance of applications.
- Engagement with the internal team to provide full end-to-end overview of the process and ensure the data access pipeline provides the required information for the wider data services to meet applicant needs.
Some of the key skills and experience you’ll bring:
- Experience of managing a multi-disciplinary team understanding demand and being able to act as an escalation point for complex issues.
- Knowledge and demonstrable application of information governance such as GDPR, DPA 2018 and Information Commissioner’s Office ICO guidance
- Exposure and experience to workforce planning based on forecasts, known demand and other influencing factors.
- Experience of planning, coordinating, and managing end to end service delivery in a complex environment.
- Providing advice on data access & sharing to stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Masters level degree or equivalent level of experience leading the delivery of operational services to customers.
- Relevant professional qualification (i.e. BCS Data Protection Certificate) or equivalent experience.
