So what’s my new mission?

Working within a larger and busy IT Department of about 70, this role fits into a dedicated Business Intelligence team. In line with our promise to deliver transformation, these teams are leading the way with some really exciting projects! As an example, we are currently migrating from our on-premise Microsoft SQL Server Business Intelligence to a modern Azure data warehouse architecture, and are underway with a new ERP strategy to implement Dynamics D365.

As part of your mission, you will define, deliver and support system solutions that reflect the current and future needs of Marshalls. Offering solutions initially in Microsoft SQL Server and Analysis Services, and then increasingly in Azure as we transition across to a cloud-hosted BI environment. You will be key in the development of dashboards using Power BI. This innovation works hand in hand with the support and maintenance of our existing reporting systems and daily administration of the Data Warehouse.

Working across the breadth of our diverse manufacturing company you will have the opportunity to work with a whole host of different departments including, but not limited to, Operations, Planning, Finance, Trading and Marketing. You will work with end users, understanding their particular requirements and working in partnership for a shared common goal. So lots of different people to meet, and they all work at different levels with diverse thoughts, styles and personalities. This will require some great communication skills and a passion for working alongside a proud and ambitious workforce.

What are the mission skills?

• A “Customer Service” approach with the ability to deal with all levels of the business
• Ability to work to deadlines and under pressure
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
• An understanding and enthusiasm for technology and design coupled with a passion for staying connected with technology trends and industry best practices
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
• Experience in developing ETL packages using SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)
• Experience in developing OLAP cubes in SQL Server Analysis Services
• Strong T-SQL skills
• SQL Server Reporting Services/Report Builder experience
• Experience in developing reports for ERP applications is an advantage
• Experience in dashboard development, ideally in Power BI
• Excellent Excel skills are essential. We use XLCubed extensively across the business, so knowledge of that or similar tool would be an advantage
• Experience with Azure Business Intelligence solutions (e.g. Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics) is an advantage, but not essential as training can be provided
• Microsoft Certifications in Business Intelligence disciplines would be a bonus!
• You need to be based within a commutable distance from our office in Halifax, West Yorkshire and commit to working 1-2 days from the office on a weekly basis.
