Reporting to the Finance Manager, and working closely with the Finance Officer, the post holder will support all aspects of the finance function for The Piece Hall Trust and will contribute to the realisation of the organisation’s goal of The Piece Hall becoming a world class heritage, events, retail, food and drink destination.

Accounts and Bookkeeping

  • Ensure that income and purchases are accurately recorded.
  • Day-to-day bookkeeping using the accounting software Sage50 and Microsoft Excel.
  • Reconcile any discrepancies or errors identified and amend financial records.
  • Assist the Finance Officer and Finance Manager in preparation of documentation for audits.

Liaise with staff and suppliers to:

  • Ensure that goods are ordered in accordance with agreed purchase orders and approval procedures.
  • Ensure that proper documentation is kept for returns and that credit notes are obtained.

General

  • Adhere to the organisation’s financial policies and procedures.
  • Attend finance department and organisation-wide meetings.
  • Suggest changes or improvements to increase accuracy, efficiency, and cost reductions.
  • Support and follow internal policies.

Future prospects

Although the impact of Covid is continuing to have a significant impact on organisations around the world, it is hoped that The Piece Hall will regrow sufficiently for at least a part-time role to be available at the end of the apprenticeship.

About the employer

Located within the courtyard in the ‘south-eastern’ corner of the Grade I listed building, the restaurant will be open seven days a week and celebrate the very best of Yorkshire’s seasonal produce, offering a carefully curated menu taking diners from breakfast, through lunch and into the evening.
