The role

Our Glasgow Secondary Schools Counselling and Blues Service is looking for a Young Persons Worker to help deliver high-quality, school based professional counselling and group work service in Glasgow. The service will, through delivery of evidence- based programmes and counselling, provide effective intervention, management of cases and assessment of needs, ensure safe care and agreed positive outcomes with secondary school children aged 12-18yrs. Our service will cover all secondary schools in Glasgow City Council (30+)


As aYoung Persons Worker, you’ll be:

Providing a high-quality service to children, young people and their families, based on an assessment of need and is outcomes driven.

  • Maintaining effective working relationships and channels of communications with colleagues and with children, young people and families and where necessary encourage and promote involvement to achieve positive outcomes.
  • Being alert to child protection and safeguarding issues and inform appropriate line managers of concerns in line with safeguarding policies and procedures

Attending and actively participate in relevant multi-agency meetings.

  • Being responsible for organising achievement of work objectives on a daily basis, including both pre and forward planning.
  • Retaining accurate and contemporaneous records, using various IT systems to capture case details, outputs and outcomes as necessary and to produce written reports and present these as necessary.

What You’ll Bring:

  • SVQ2 Health and Social Care, or equivalent.
  • Experience of working in a health, early years or social care setting.
  • The ability to work as part of a team or as an individual to deliver a frontline service.
  • Experience of preparing clear and concise file notes and inputting information into office systems.
  • Previous Experience of preparing, organising, reviewing and delivering individual and or group work.
  • Working knowledge of an outcome-based approach to planning, delivering and reviewing services.
  • Demonstrable prioritising and organising skills.
  • Car driver desirable.
