Year 5 Teaching Assistant

A Primary School located in Nelson are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join their team from September 2021. The role is to start from September 2021 and work as a general TA supporting a ‘mixed but able’ year 5 class. You will be working alongside the very experienced class teacher by helping to reduce unnecessary workload with general TA duties e.g.; photocopying, display work, good behaviour management, play time cover etc. and to also be expected to deliver high quality maths and English Interventions in order to raise the children’s attainment.

You will be required to work with all abilities and be able to differentiate your teaching methods to suit all needs. The successful practitioner must acquire a Level 2 or above in Teaching and Learning or equivalent and must have had more than two years’ experience working in schools with a broad knowledge of working in KS2. Due to staff shortages, there is a very good chance this role could be permanent. For the right candidate the business manager has stated they could take them onto a school contract for the new academic year. Experience working in years 5 & 6 is essential. The Head Teacher has stated they are willing to consider early career teachers or experienced teachers that are looking to take a step back from a teaching role and source a supporting role.

The Head Teacher Is Looking For The Following
  • Level 2 or above qualification
  • An experienced KS2 Practitioner
  • Confident with delivering engaging interventions
  • Ability to work independently or part of a team
  • Superb behaviour management
  • Available full-time from September 2021 – April 2022
  • Able to commute to Nelson (BB9)
The salary is based on a 6.5 hour day, Monday to Friday, and depending on experience, this could vary between GBP10.20 - GBP12.50 per hour. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
