About the Opportunity

Jacobs is committed to playing a leadership role in Global Energy Transition. Our UK and Continental Europe team is growing and we’re looking for a Wind Turbine Generator (WTG) Design Engineer to help lead Jacobs to success. You will play a leading role in the design of major offshore and onshore wind farms’ WTG for the full asset lifecycle from project conception to operational monitoring whilst supporting our sales and growth teams to develop relationships with existing customers in the sector, identify new opportunities and build relationships with new clients.

You will be accountable for the following tasks including but not limited to:

  • Represent Jacobs in opening discussions on technical aspects of delivery.
  • Work with our Talent Acquisition to grow a sustainable design and consultancy team.
  • Produce clear and concise consultancy and technical reports.
  • Produce design basis, material and construction specifications.
  • Develop WTG technical specification and development plans for our clients.
  • Help them identify supply chain partners.
  • Manage the delivery of WTG and manage the WTG packages in projects.
  • Conduct quality controls on behalf of our clients, including manufacturing of WTG components (e.g. blades, nacelles, etc) to meet reliability and durability requirements.
  • Sign off on technology selection, project assumptions, OEM selection, WTG contract and technical decisions.
  • Track WTG technology including innovation and demonstration projects and technology assessments and map the potential impact on our clients.
  • Review designs, analyses / calculations performed by others, provide technical guidance and proactively resolve any discrepancies.
  • Prepare and/or check specifications, design calculations, drawings and material take offs.
  • The work will involve liaising with other disciplines, client and 3rd party contractors and coordinating and working with project team members across global offices to deliver the tasks within allotted timelines and budgets.
  • You will ensure all outputs are compliant with our quality, project control, safety and governance procedures.

Here’s What You’ll Need:


Qualifications

  • Experience of delivering WTG elements of projects, for large offshore and onshore wind owners, developers and contractors.
  • Have strong relationships with client organisations and your technical counterparts in client organisations.
  • Experience of managing a team.
  • A four-year Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Chartered Engineer or working towards becoming Chartered.
  • Knowledge of relevant codes and standards, including offshore design and assessment codes and recommended practices.
  • Minimum experience of 15 years having excellent technical and practical engineering skills and able to consistently deliver on quality and schedule.
