Job Description

We are looking for an experienced mental health professional be part of the school-based Wellbeing Practitioner support strand of Student Wellbeing.

Student Wellbeing is a multi-disciplinary team with four strands to the service. These are counselling, specialist mentoring, academic school-based support, and mental health support (including urgent support). Our work is underpinned by the principles of the University Mental Health Charter and we have a key role in developing a whole university approach to mental health.

We are inviting experienced mental health practitioners, with substantial experience of working within multi-disciplinary teams, to apply to join our team. The successful applicant will work closely with two academic schools and the Student Wellbeing central team. You will be confident in working autonomously and will have experience of influencing positive change. You will understand student mental health and higher education and will have experience of delivering teaching and training sessions to students and colleagues.

The school-based Wellbeing Practitioner role has three strands; to facilitate timely access to support for students; support academic colleagues in responding appropriately to student mental health concerns; and to maintain a focus on mental health promotion, awareness raising, through delivery of co-created, taught, on curriculum interventions to improve the wellbeing of students.

You must hold a current professional qualification in the field of mental health care and be registered with a professional body such as the NMC, HCPC or Social Work England. Extensive experience of delivering collaborative, therapeutic interventions using a case management approach for people who have complex or long-standing mental health problems is essential.
