Weekend Farm Assistant
We are currently recruiting for a Weekend Farm Assistant to support and participate in the daily husbandry of Patchwork Farm, a therapeutic care farm that has been specially designed to allow the young people onsite a unique, hands on, multi-sensory experience with a number of different animals.
Working Hours: 8 hours per weekend, Saturday and Sunday – 2 hours AM / 2 hours PM
Main Duties:
- Preparing feed and water for the animals
- Clean, disinfect and maintain high standards of hygiene and cleanliness
- Maintaining enclosures to ensure safety of all animals
- Daily record keeping and completion of all relevant animal paperwork
- Animal health checks
- When required/instructed to provide medication to the animals
- Assist with the handling of animals for routine treatments such as foot trimming and shearing
- Attend to the exercise, socialising and grooming needs of the animals when needed
- Ensuring the farm is clean and presentable for visitors at all times
Above all else we are looking for those with the following:
- Experience of working with animals, ideally within a farm environment
- Experience of feeding and conducting animal health checks
- Calm and confident with large and small animals
- Good observational skills
- Ability to work independently and physically able to carry out practical tasks on the farm
