An exciting opportunity has arisen on our older Adult Inpatient Male Ward for the Interim Ward Manager’s position.Stage ward is an inpatient mental health ward for male older adult aged 65 and over. The service cares for men suffering from acute mental health problems who are in crisis and cannot be cared for at home due to the level of risk they may present to themselves or others.The post holder will be joining a multi-disciplinary team that is committed to the provision of high-quality patient centred care for all who use the service.The post holder will have worked as a Band 6 Nurse for a minimum of 12 months and can demonstrate knowledge of mental health in-patient wards and has experience in leadership roles and responsibilities.Our Trust provides a wide range of mental health inpatient services including older adult, adult acute, learning disabilities, low secure services, young people and PICU.The Main Responsibilities Of The Post
  • To complete 5 days of Prevention and Management of Violence and Aggression course which is yearly updated and implement in practice as required.
  • To work 9-5 Mondays to Fridays with occasional nights and weekends should this be required.
  • To undertake assessment of client’s needs and support the MDT in formulating appropriate individual care plans, taking a holistic approach.
  • To provide support for junior staff, through supervision.
  • Deputise in the absence of the Modern Matron.
  • Carry out various audits.
  • Ensure that relatives and carers of service users and feel supported and are able to communicate effectively with the clinical team.
  • Appropriate IT skills to ensure accurate documentation and communication around care.
  • Take steps to maintain the safety and welfare of staff, patients, visitors and to the ward.
  • Work alongside service users and carers/relatives to continually work towards improving and maintaining high standards.
  • Required to work along the ECT team and attend the clinic as rostered, skills and knowledge of ECT is desirable but not essential as training will be provided.

Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).Starting with NELFTNELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process, new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop-in sessions focusing on engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes.
