As a Tourist Information Volunteer you will help the Tourist Information Centre by offering information, resources and advice for visitors and locals on our area. You will sell a range of souvenirs and gifts, provide the box-office service for Town Halls and The Lawrence Batley Theatre, and give advice on local accommodation. You will help by:
  • Welcoming customers
  • Signposting within these buildings and beyond
  • Helping to promote local events and attractions
  • Selling gifts and souvenirs
  • Maintaining the Tourist Information Centre’s displays and resources
  • Promotion of the library service in the community
  • Discussing and recording the impact that the library service makes on customers’ lives
  • Get to know what your local area and what’s on offer
  • Increase confidence working with people
  • Become part of a friendly and dedicated team
  • Gain valuable experience for CVs
  • Meet new people and make friends
  • You will need two referees to provide a character reference. This could be an employer, teacher, support worker etc.
  • An induction to the service and appropriate training will be provided
  • Travel expenses can be claimed if required to attend training sessions
