Job content

The children and adults who attend our riding sessions are either physically or mentally disabled, some deaf or partially sighted, others have muscle and nerve weakness, caused by illness. The blind, autistic and ’ Downs’ children all enjoy riding. The exercise that riding provides helps to strengthen muscles and improve co-ordination. Riding releases nervous tension, flexes unused joints and may be the only "normal" activity that a disabled person is able to pursue. Volunteers are always needed to help our members benefit from this interactive and progressive therapy - the magical bond between horse and rider.

We are looking for volunteers that are aged 15 years and above. You should be comfortable around horses and have a jolly personality.

Session run on a Tuesday and Thursday morning between 10am and midday, during term time. How to find us: Follow the A515 from the High Street to London Road and you turn right about 1.5 miles south, you will see Fern Road. Follow the road all the way to the end and you will see our Stables. Application by informal discussion and trial period. Support and training available.
