ApplyAsk a questionSave opportunityWe rescue, educate and give a home to street children in Maua, Kenya, where their life experience is desperate. We are looking for a fundraiser to enable us to meet current needs and expand our provision. What will you be doing? We are looking for an initiative-taker with experience in researching trusts and funding bodies, and in writing appeals that generate money and - ideally - an ongoing connection between the donor and the charity. You will receive as much support as you need to understand what we do, who we are, why we are unique and what makes us a worthy target for donations. You will work any hours you can manage and as flexibly as you need to. The trustees will support you in any way that we can, and communications will always be open between the board and the volunteer. A fundraiser needs to understand the charity thoroughly, so you will want to work alongside me (the founder and current fundraiser) to help lift my workload in this area. What are we looking for?The more experience you have in fundraising the better. It is important that you are organised and an enthusiastic self-starter who will work independently. You would be part of a team volunteers, so good people skills are also helpful. The most important quality in a successful fund-raiser, however, is stickability, the ability to survive a high percentage of refusals without becoming discouraged, and to learn through the rejections how to create a successful application. What difference will you make?If you are successful in raising funds for us, you can know that every penny saves lives and transforms children and young people from destitute orphans with no hope into productive and happy adults with a vibrant future. As just one example one of our children who came to us from the total rejection of his family when he was three years old, is now a qualified Clinical medical officer, working in a hospital and paying for the school fees of a younger child in the home out of his own income. This is the glory of what we do! Because we are small, we know all of the children personally, and trustees travel to Kenya regularly, so we have strong relationships there. The gratitude and love showered on you would make up for any effort you had put in. You can know that you are making a genuine and real difference in the world of extreme poverty and offer people purpose and life instead of suffering and an almost certain early death. Before you applyPlease contact us via Reach with any questions or to apply for this opportunity. I will also wish to meet you in an informal Zoom meeting. There is no application form, but we would like to know how you think your skills and experience will benefit the charity, and why you are interested in this role.Causes
