The aim for the garden volunteer is to support our Grow Outside gardening project, that runs on Thursdays, based at The Croft, Ripley (DE5 3HF). This role assists in planning, planting, maintenance and a range of gardening activities. We have opportunities for volunteers to get involved at any level, from helping to grow vegetables, to planting trees for wildlife benefit, to sharing skills with new group members. Volunteers will also provide friendship, support and encouragement to individuals including children under the age of 18 and vulnerable adults, who may be lonely, isolated or lacking in confidence.

No formal experience is necessary and relevant health and safety training will be given. We welcome people of all ages and abilities to apply for this role, but the minimum age requirement is 18 years. Outline of activities and requirements:  To help in the garden with a range of activities, e.g. weeding, planting, harvesting, propagation, mowing, and pruning  To help to develop the garden and work with group members to bring new ideas to life  To assist others in gardening activities  To ensure tools are used properly and collected, cleaned and tidied away at the end of a session  To welcome visitors to the garden  To be willing to work outdoors in all weathers  To enjoy being part of a team and be happy to lead activities

Training will provided and all volunteers will be asked to complete a DBS check before they volunteer with us.
