Scouting is growing. We need adults who are keen to try new things and to have fun to join our team of adults who run our new youth section for 14-18 year olds. We call this youth section Explorers and they are great young people who are friendly, fun to be with and eager to try new experiences. We need adults to help us provide these fantastic opportunities to local young people. Our leaders are normal people just like you, but by working together they make extraordinary things happen! One week you may be rock climbing, the next doing a community service project, the week after taking them on a hike in the dark to test their navigation skills. What we can guarantee is that no two weeks are the same as the young people do different things each week to earn their badges and awards. We are open to boys and girls from all faiths, backgrounds and abilities and welcome everyone. Could you make a difference and help this group get off to a flying start? What do you have to do? We meet weekly & are looking for someone to join our team of leaders so if you can’t be there every week that’s OK, we understand and welcome you when you can come! Perhaps you could help us plan some of our fantastic activities or day trips instead. Whatever time you have to give we can find a role for you that you will find rewarding. You need to enjoy working with children and have a good sense of humour. You need to have common sense and be open to learn and have new experiences. You will be required to undertake a DBS disclosure check prior to commencement of the appointment. Training opportunities can lead to recognised qualifications including - OCN Level 2, Providing Voluntary Youth Services - Foundation Degree in Working with Young People

Explorer Scouting is all about fun, challenge and adventure so we are out in our communities and getting involved, supporting others, building our experience and our practical skills. If you have practical skills you can pass on or want to learn new ones Explorer Scout Leadership may be for you.
