The Director, Alliance Management will be responsible for supporting and managing critical ViiV R&D collaborations. This is an exciting opportunity to influence key internal and external stakeholders, provide leadership for the alliances, mitigate risks and play a key role in enabling and strengthening organizational capabilities across ViiV.

This role will provide YOU the opportunity to lead key activities to progress YOUR career. These responsibilities include some of the following:

  • Accountable for supporting collaboration Joint Committees. This will likely entail building and managing agenda topics, drafting minutes, influencing agenda topics and actions taken. Additionally, cascading decisions to relevant stakeholders and working with other team members in preparing for Joint Committee meetings
  • Leveraging interpersonal, relationship management, influencing, leadership and communication skills to build strong relationships with alliance management counterparts, collaboration team members, and ViiV governance members
  • Ensure the collaboration is adhering to contractual obligations in terms of reports, documenting decisions and milestones and ensuring the appropriate level of approvals
  • Proactively identify issues/problems/misalignment and initiate solutions to resolve and/or appropriately escalate unresolved issues for information or intervention
  • Represent alliance management on R&D teams as needed
  • Partner with VP Business Development and relevant stakeholders on contracts and amendments as needed
  • Provide input into new deals, specifically with respect to how the deal will be operate, including governance structure/decision-making, milestone reporting, payment schedules, development project planning, communications/publications, commercial practices, etc.
  • Share best practices and lessons learned with the business development community

  • Bachelor’s Degree in life sciences
  • 5 plus years of Pharma R&D experience
  • Experience in all phases of drug development
  • Experience working with senior management and key stakeholders
  • Experience leading interdisciplinary matrix teams
  • Negotiation experience
  • External partnering experience
  • Experience in working with contracts and contract interpretation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in life sciences
  • Strong influencing skills
  • Ability to multi-task and assimilate complex information from diverse sources
  • Excellent oral, written and presentation skills
  • Prior experience working on a collaboration
  • Goal oriented
  • Comfortable in taking on negotiations of contractual review/dispute
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work independently
