Working as part of the Skills for Life team, you will report to the Head of Skills for Life. You will be teaching L1 Health and Safety in the Construction Environment course.

The Tutor of L1 Health and Safety in the Construction Environment will be responsible for:


  • Managing a caseload of learners, setting assignments and marking their work within a timely manner.
  • Giving feedback to learners and staying up to date with course administration including marking registers, monitoring progress and supporting learners to complete PLPs.
  • Supporting learners with knowledge and skills within Construction health and safety.
  • Showcasing personal occupational experience with the learners on your cohort to share best practise.
  • Providing information, advice and guidance about the L1 Health and Safety in the Construction Environment course, CSCS test and application for the CSCS green to a range of learners.
  • Preparing for internal moderation and standardisation activities.

You will also work with your colleagues to ensure high standards in teaching, learning and assessment, and high levels of customer satisfaction.


About you:

You must have in depth knowledge about legislation with regards to Health and Safety practices on Construction sites.

Applicants should hold a teaching qualification and have experience of teaching L1 Health and Safety in the Construction Environment and have a construction related health and safety qualification, such as:

  • Level 1 Award in Health and Safety within a Construction Environment
  • NEBOSH National Certificate in Construction Health and Safety
  • NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety
