Description
Role title: Vendor Manager
Location: Newbury, UK
Role purpose:
Throughout, you will engage and manage relationships with your business stakeholders and their teams, the Vodafone Procurement Company, our vendors, Finance, HR and our Shared Services teams as key parties to achieve your outcomes and ensure a consistent vendor management framework and process is adhered to.
1) Supplier Performance Management
Developing and agreeing short- and mid-term actions to increase partner performance, employing vendor performance optimisation or improvement programmes as required and driving to successful conclusion. Setting up and running regular vendor Performance Reviews and managing escalation processes as needed. Working closely with Vodafone Procurement / local Supply Chain Management to ensure that commercial impacts of potential KPI / SLA breaches are executed.
Leading on vendor contract assessments identifying and actioning potential contract improvements and leveraging commercial benefit, monitoring re-negotiation timelines, collecting feedback from delivery teams on partner performance and translating findings into additional commercial requirements, initiating support through Vodafone Procurement and the wider Partner Management team.
2) Cost Optimisation
To provide active support for Cost optimisation initiatives as defined across the business from time to time.
To continuously seek tactical reductions in cost or increase in value from our engagement with vendors. To aid/collaborate on the implementation of tools/services/capabilities that enhance the value for money proposition when working with our vendors.
To actively participate in initiatives to drive improved bottom line commercial performance. Work with Finance and Cost Management teams to ensure a clear line of sight on expected spend and actively identify initiatives that are transformative.
3) Demand Management
Working with Stakeholders to create and maintain a view of demand with external vendors. Translate demand into channels of engagement with our vendors and/or our internal Shared Services support teams. Ensure external costs are optimised, resources managed in line with insourcing options and make/buy/re-use options are evaluated.
4) Sourcing support
Provide direct assistance to your business stakeholders regarding the selection of existing vendors based on the ‘right fit’ for the outcomes needed. Challenge the norm of continuous, same vendor selection. Initiate actions to manage transition for existing vendors (where appropriate) in order to mitigate risks based on dependency.
Act as the front door for requirements that may need new vendors to be sourced – working with business stakeholder and the Vodafone Procurement Company to assist in managing the process of sourcing. To be an active participant in the selection, negotiation and subsequent contract performance aspects of new vendor (or new service type) selection.
Drive competitive sourcing options based on the assessment of risk versus technology, time and commercial imperatives.
5) Ensuring Compliance
To ensure that our operations are aligned to both internal policies and external regulation. Ensure that your Business stakeholders are aware of Vodafone’s obligations in these regards and to actively call out risks as necessary.
